The Future of Food
Customer Review: No GMOs!! No Corporate Farming!!
This movie was a real eye opener to me and I was completely riveted to this documentary’s content. I am amazed at the amount of gmo’s in today’s world and how corporations like Monsanto are running the show when it comes to what shows up on the dinner table!

According this documentary, there is no requirement for food to have labeling stating whether it has been genetically engineered. So, we may not even know if we are eating genetically engineered!

It gave me a whole new outlook on what I put on the kitchen table!! Buying fresh produce from local organic farmers/growers seems to be the way to go after watching this film!

Customer Review: Eye-opener!
This video is a must see for EVERYONE! It is bone chilling what our government is doing to our food supply without public knowledge. Great resource video to show friends!

Customer Review: Recipe has changed for the worse
These bars used to be great–the protein-to-sugar ratio used to be more protein (10g) than sugar (8g) (the nutrition information posted by Amazon is no longer accurate). But now, the bars have *15* grams of sugar to 10 grams of protein. Yuck–much too sweet! If I want sugar I’ll get a Hershey bar. What I wanted was a quick protein snack that didn’t rot my teeth.
Customer Review: Great in stores - not so from Amazon
These bars, and their Raspberry flavored counterpart, are awesome - the chocolate is great and they are not too chewy, not too crunchy. Knowing that they are organic and have some nutritional value makes you feel ok about eating a snack. The bars themselves are certainly 5 stars. The only problem - the past two times I’ve ordered (both varieties) from Amazon, the bars where less than fresh. (Actually I reported the first delivery and they replaced it for free, but the second was no better). The date on the packages were well within the expired date, but the bars were dry and the dark chcoloate had a white fade to it and did not taste as “dark”. Going to give one more try to ordering online as it is considerably cheaper, but then may have to turn back to paying the higher cost from the retail stores — but they’re worth it!

“One of holistic medicine’s most authoritative voices” — Publishers Weekly

Good carbs, bad carbs? Low fat, no fat? Is protein the solution or the problem? After so much conflicting diet advice, one of America’s best-known and most respected doctors offers a sensible approach that emphasizes enjoyment over deprivation and long-term health benefits over short-term weight loss. Dr. Weil assures us there is no confusion among nutritional experts about the optimal diet for health and longevity. And it’s the very same diet that will naturally keep you at a healthy weight. Understanding inflammation to be the root cause of many chronic illnesses, he provides science-based recommendations to help combat specific health concerns, all as part of what he calls the Anti-Inflammatory Diet. He also addresses the subject of dietary supplements, what’s downright dangerous and what can help.

Inside the DVD, you’ll find a printed pocket guide that encapsulates much of Dr. Weil’s advice, including energy-boosting eating tips and a shopping cart guide to the healthiest foods.

DVD FEATURES INCLUDE bonus footage not seen on the PBS broadcast, the Eating Well Pocket Guide, and a bio of Dr. Weil.

Andrew Weil M.D., is a world-renowned leader and pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. Dr. Weil combines a Harvard education with a lifetime of practicing natural and preventive medicine to provide a unique approach to health care that encompasses body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Weil is the founder and director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. His national bestselling books include Spontaneous Healing, The Healthy Kitchen, and Healthy Aging.

Customer Review: Good but extremely basic
Dr. Weil has a very sensible and holistic approach to eating which is well explained in this program. I like his emphasis on debunking fad diets and on making eating pleasurable and socially integrative. He covers all the basic concepts related to healthy eating competently and clearly. I personally was hoping for something more advanced, since the information in this video is really oriented to those who know very little about nutrition. If you have been keeping up with the literature, there will be little new information here. Actually, Dr. Weil’s DVD on healthy aging contains some interesting information on healthful properties of foods and spices in the Okinawan diet which are not contained here and which were new to me. But, even if you know all this, it never hurts to reinforce it and this video is a succinct and motivational way to do so.

Customer Review: Dreamlife Superstar
Although I don’t quite understand why, my nine year-old daughter loves this game. I have played it a few times and it just seems to drone on and on without any clear purpose. One thing that I do like is that it shows how you have to balance doing fun things with work and chores if you want to have spending money.
Customer Review: Dream Life …She wishes!
DreamLife Superstar is tons of fun for my eight yr old. No educational value since doing the dishes earns her $50.00 on this game. If that is not a shocker then how about $25.00 to take the dog for a walk. Complete fun and fantasy land but the game gets a lot of play.

Down Syndrome: The First 18 Months

May 22nd, 2008

Down Syndrome: The First 18 Months
Woodbine House is very pleased to bring you this video, created by Will Schermerhorn, and filled with adorable images of babies with Down syndrome, inspiring stories of parents, and practical information from the leading Down syndrome experts. DOWN SYNDROME: The First 18 Months is a reassuring and realistic introduction to the unique joys and challenges that children with Down syndrome bring to their families during the critical first 18 to 24 months of life.

Will Schermerhorn was inspired to make this video after his son with Down syndrome was born and he observed his wife’s relentless pursuit of information that would comfort and empower. He interviewed thirteen leading medical and developmental experts on Down syndrome—Libby Kumin, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, Joan E. Guthrie Medlen, R.D., L.D., Patricia C. Winders, P.T, Dr. George Capone, Professor Sue Buckley, Dr. William Cohen, Dr. Allen Crocker, Sarah Rosenfeld Johnson, and Dr. Sally Shott—on a variety of issues covering:

Newborns: diagnosis, health care, breastfeeding, heart defects
Health Concerns: parent-professional relationships, ear, nose, and throat, nutrition and feeding, dental
Therapies: language and speech therapy, physical therapy
New Expectations: the impact of having a child with Down syndrome on the family and the world

Heartwarming footage of young children with Down syndrome is interspersed with the interviews with parents and experts. Throughout, perspectives provided by veteran parents who share their joys and concerns will reassure new parents. DOWN SYNDROME: The First 18 Months is an inspiring and educational video for parents who want to know more, and an excellent tool for support groups, medical professionals, and libraries to support families.

Customer Review: Watch this first!
If you have a new baby with Down syndrome or someone in your family does then this DVD is a must have. This DVD is so informative and tells you very important information. If you are unfamiliar with Down syndrome this DVD is for you.

Customer Review: Must have for all new parents of kids with Down syndrome!!
WOW!! I wish this video was available when my daughter was born almost 3 years ago! It should be included in every diaper bag from the hospital when the child has Down syndrome! It is all of the information that I wish I knew when my daughter was first born. It is like Down syndrome 101. You don’t walk away with a hopeless feeling about your new baby’s lease on life, instead, you understand that your child has an extra chromosome, and that chromosome, as small as it may be, WILL be the largest blessing and life lesson you learn. This video will be on the “must see” list for any new parents joining our Down synrdrome playgroup, and I hope NADS and NDSS will add it to their new parent packets….although $35 is a bit steep when you have been hit with a child with special needs, it is well worth a trip to the library!!! Even if you have to special request it via inter-library loan!!!

Customer Review: Huge Hit!
Our two year old son received this set (as well as the breakfast and dinner sets) for Christmas. Talk about a HUGE hit! He plays with it daily! The food accurately mimics real food in looks and size and is well worth the extra money that other plastic food sets cost. We highly recommend this play food and look forward to adding other sets of this food to his collection!
Customer Review: Church Nursery Tested- A Hit!
We gave this to our church nursery with the Healthy Breakfast set. The 18 mos-3 yo kids just love it. It gets played with every week. It has held up fabulously. I bought the huge 90 pc set for my 3yo DD. She just loves playing with all the food. I was back and forth trying to decide between this food and Haba wooden food. I am glad I chose this. It’s wonderful, durable and realistic. My daughter prefers it over the Melissa and Doug wooden food she has.

Electronic Bowlercade Customer Review: Bowl at home
This is a great product! It does only have 6 plastic pins and the plastic blue balls are smallish, but it is still fun and we are glad we got it. Our sons, 8 and 4 love to bowl and this is a nice toy they can play together without too much commotion. The score keeper is great and the coolest part about the toy is the ball return! How great!
Worth it for the price.

Please note, this toy is a pain to put together and make sure you do hear the snap as instructed when following the well-written directions. It is made pretty well, but once together, you will want to keep it in it’s place.
Customer Review: Loved It!
I bought the Electronic Bowlercade for my three grandchildren, ages 7 1/2, 5, and 3 1/2 and they love it!

Customer Review: The Most Comfortable Walking Shoe Ever!
I was turned on to this brand by a great Girlfriend who didn’t steer me wrong. They are light, comfortable, well made and the most comfortable closed shoe I own. Whether you’re walking around NYC or walking around Athens, Greece…you won’t regret buying these. Now I want more in other colors!
Customer Review: most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn
I have problems fitting shoes because my heel is narrow and my toe area is wider. The Keens are perfect for that. I chose the Presidio because of it’s classic styling. The instant I put the shoe on, I knew I was going to be buying it. It was immediately comfortable and required no breaking in period. The footbed is very supportive with the best arch support I’ve worn.

I agree with the other review that says these fit about a half size smaller than normal. So if you’re ordering on-line, be aware of that.

I also own a pair of Arroyos, that I have just bought and haven’t yet put to a real test, but they too are very comfortable.

These will be, I’m positive, only the start of my collection of Keen-wear because I now have no inkling to purchase any other brand!
