Accelerade Sports Drink Seasoned athletes have been mixing Accelerade powder for years, because it works . So, just like always, Accelerade is available in ready - to - mix powder in 15 - , 30 - and 60 - servings canisters . Why Accelerade is Better? Beyond hydration During exercise, an athlete’s body needs fluids . Period . That’s why replenishing fluids during exercise is crucial - especially in the heat . When the body loses fluids through sweating, body temperature elevates and exercise performance drops . This isn’t a good thing . The most important function of a sports drink is to rehydrate . But a drained body also needs to restore energy and electrolytes . That’s why so many athletes choose carbohydrate and electrolyte - rich sports drinks instead of water . Sodium is the primary electrolyte lost in sweat followed by potassium . That’s why both are included in sports drinks . These electrolytes can serve to enhance flavor and encourage athletes to drink more . They also promote fluid retention . The addition of carbohydrates can delay fatigue during prolonged exercise and improve performance . But, carbohydrates and electrolytes aren’t the only thing an athlete’s body needs . Along comes Accelerade - the first sports drink to contain carbohydrates and protein in a patented 4:1 ratio . A ratio? Yes, a ratio . The inclusion of just the right amount of protein in Accelerade facilitates rehydration by optimizing the absorption of fluid . In 2006, researchers at St . Cloud University demonstrated that consuming Accelerade following cycling exercise significantly enhanced rehydration by 15% compared to a conventional sports drink and 40% compared to water . How does this happen? Accelerade contains two macronutrients (protein and carbohydrates) and each macronutrient uses a separate transport system or ‘door’ to enter into the body’s circulation from the intestine . As carbohydrates and protein enter, they bring sodium and water with them . So with the a

Window Graphic - 30×65 Skiing is Believing
Design: Clearvue Graphics Surf and Snow Series Dimensions: 30×65 (SUV) See-through window graphics are printed on mechanically perforated vinyl. This vinyl has a sticky adhesive on one side, protected by a peel away release layer. This perforated material, known as window perf, is made by many companies around the United States. All see-through window graphics are printed on basically the same material. The difference between graphic companies is what they print on this material! The beauty of window perf is that it is incredibly low tech, comprised of 50% vinyl and 50% holes. Human eyes absorb light reflected from objects. When someone looks at the image on your window, their eyes absorb the light being reflected off of the printed image. The holes cannot be seen. The graphic looks like a solid image! The sticky side of the graphic which faces the glass, is black. Looking out from inside the vehicle, your eyes absorb light reflected off objects outside the vehicle, such as buildings, cars, trees, etc. Your eyes blend the black material on the inside with the images seen through the holes, creating the illusion that there is nothing on your window. The resulting effect will amaze you! These graphics apply to the outside of the window and will not effect, or be effected by window tints of factory window defrosters. PRIVACY AND UV PROTECTION Another benefit of having this material on your window is UV protection. ClearVue Graphics block 50% of the sun’s UV rays. These rays are responsible for fading vehicle interiors and heating the cab. ClearVue Graphics will keep your vehicle cooler and preserve the interior from fading. Because these graphics prevent outside viewing into your vehicle, you will enjoy a dramatic increase in privacy as you drive down the road, or while parked at a scenic location. Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food

February 27th, 2008

Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food

It has become common knowledge that childhood obesity rates are increasing every year. But the rates continue to rise. And between busy work schedules and the inconvenient truth that kids simply refuse to eat vegetables and other healthy foods, how can average parents ensure their kids are getting the proper nutrition and avoiding bad eating habits?

As a mother of three, Jessica Seinfeld can speak for all parents who struggle to feed their kids right and deal nightly with dinnertime fiascos. As she wages a personal war against sugars, packaged foods, and other nutritional saboteurs, she offers appetizing alternatives for parents who find themselves succumbing to the fastest and easiest (and least healthy) choices available to them. Her modus operandi? Her book is filled with traditional recipes that kids love, except they’re stealthily packed with veggies hidden in them so kids don’t even know! With the help of a nutritionist and a professional chef, Seinfeld has developed a month’s worth of meals for kids of all ages that includes, for example, pureed cauliflower in mac and cheese, and kale in spaghetti and meatballs. She also provides revealing and humorous personal anecdotes, tear–out shopping guides to help parents zoom through the supermarket, and tips on how to deal with the kid that “must have” the latest sugar bomb cereal.

But this book also contains much more than recipes and tips. By solving problems on a practical level for parents, Seinfeld addresses the big picture issues that surround childhood obesity and its long–term (and ruinous) effects on the body. With the help of a prominent nutritionist, her book provides parents with an arsenal of information related to kids’ nutrition so parents understand why it’s important to throw in a little avocado puree into their quesadillas. She discusses the critical importance of portion size, and the specific elements kids simply must have (as opposed to adults) in order to flourish now and in the future: protein, calcium, vitamins, and Omega 3 and 6 fats.

Jessica Seinfeld’s book is practical, easy–to–read, and a godsend for any parent that wants their kids to be healthy for a long time to come.

Customer Review: I really like this cookbook!
I know there is a lot of craziness out there about this cookbook and author, but as a busy mom I could care less. I bought this cookbook because it was at Costco.

I REALLY like it. I made the meatloaf just last night for my family and they loved it. The tastes are grown up enough for my husband and myself, but my kids like it too.

The recipes are easy to make and use normal ingredients. We had the chicken salad for lunch the other day and it was a hit.

I would recommend one thing though - instead of using all those baggies to freeze the purees I use my silicone muffin pan and store all the little frozen veggie “muffins” in one big freezer bag (one bag for each type) and it seems to work great. Less waste.

I think you’ll like this book if you buy it and you can tweak the recipes to fit your families tastes.

Customer Review: Good ideas
She has a lot of great ideas for kid-focused foods. Easy-to-use format. Even those not very comfortable in the kitchen will not find this book difficult or intimidating. If you’re looking for haute cuisine, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for healthy, realistic food your kids will eat, this is a good place to start.

Customer Review: U7 soccer coach
WOW!!! Here’s how to take your kids (and yourself) to the next level for skills development. No more poorly constructed videos or diagrams - these are very professionally produced so that you understand every move. There’s also good dialogue with the pros and trainers about how to really finesse these moves on the pitch.
Customer Review: Youth soccer skills training
We purchased this DVD based on a recommendation, for use as a training aid for my 10 yr old. It demonstrates a number of age appropriate soccer skills in a nice format that is useful for learning, and that is also enjoyable to watch. At times the European accents and terminology used by some of the speakers / players may be difficult to understand and follow.

What to eat, what not to eat, and how to think about health: a manifesto for our times

“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” These simple words go to the heart of Michael Pollan’s In Defense of Food, the well-considered answers he provides to the questions posed in the bestselling The Omnivore’s Dilemma.

Humans used to know how to eat well, Pollan argues. But the balanced dietary lessons that were once passed down through generations have been confused, complicated, and distorted by food industry marketers, nutritional scientists, and journalists-all of whom have much to gain from our dietary confusion. As a result, we face today a complex culinary landscape dense with bad advice and foods that are not “real.” These “edible foodlike substances” are often packaged with labels bearing health claims that are typically false or misleading. Indeed, real food is fast disappearing from the marketplace, to be replaced by “nutrients,” and plain old eating by an obsession with nutrition that is, paradoxically, ruining our health, not to mention our meals. Michael Pollan’s sensible and decidedly counterintuitive advice is: “Don’t eat anything that your great-great grandmother would not recognize as food.”

Writing In Defense of Food, and affirming the joy of eating, Pollan suggests that if we would pay more for better, well-grown food, but buy less of it, we’ll benefit ourselves, our communities, and the environment at large. Taking a clear-eyed look at what science does and does not know about the links between diet and health, he proposes a new way to think about the question of what to eat that is informed by ecology and tradition rather than by the prevailing nutrient-by-nutrient approach.

In Defense of Food reminds us that, despite the daunting dietary landscape Americans confront in the modern supermarket, the solutions to the current omnivore’s dilemma can be found all around us.

In looking toward traditional diets the world over, as well as the foods our families-and regions-historically enjoyed, we can recover a more balanced, reasonable, and pleasurable approach to food. Michael Pollan’s bracing and eloquent manifesto shows us how we might start making thoughtful food choices that will enrich our lives and enlarge our sense of what it means to be healthy.

Customer Review: Ugh!
Nutritionists often change their minds, as new evidence comes in. Thus, per Pollan, we should stop paying attention to them. Doctors and nuclear scientists also sometimes change their minds - should we also disdain their thoughts? It’s true that Americans’ health has deteriorated in some ways over recent decades - eg. the alarming growth of obesity. Pollan suggests this also damns nutritionists. Forget about eating TOO MUCH - eg. the larger portions and enticements for super-sizing, reduced physical exertion in our daily lives, and ignoring the universal advice of nutritionists (avoid animal fats, eat a balanced meal, etc.). Pollan also wants to associate (blame?) increasing heart disease on nutritionists - but what about the fact that it is decreasing? “In Defense of Food” cannot be defended - too much hair-splitting and absurd logic. I cannot be convinced that nutritionists and the marketers that use them do not/can not improve food - eg. niacin added to bread, iodine in salt, etc. We simply don’t know enough to do so as well as in animals because the required scientific testing is often not possible or frowned upon.
Customer Review: I Just Don’t Know
I’m a working woman - I have four jobs and they take up all my time. I am also overweight and in recovery from so much abuse - my whole life has been abuse. So I try to treat my body right and do what the good Lord intended me to do with it - after so many years of abuse and trrible behavior it shows. So i like to read books about food and such. Maybe I am ignorant - it wouldnt be the first time some big shot man has made me feel that but this book was hard to read. The whole first part just talks about all these historical facts about food. I wanted to know what i shoudl and shouldn;t eat - and he does say that later on but I was so confused and lost by the time I was done that i don’t think I got much out of it. My sponser Pam said I needed to have patience and read it again - but she doesn;t work four jobs to try and stay off welfare and food stamps - and I am pretty sure most of what he tells you to eat instead in here I can;t get on food stamps. So i gave Pam her book back and said I woudl rather hear about it on Oprah. If you went to Harvard maybe this is for you, but I work all the time and try to behave righteously and am not a liberal so this wasn’t for me.

For the first time in our history, scientists are uncovering astounding medical evidence about dieting — and why so many of us struggle with our weight and the size of our waists. Now researchers are unraveling biological secrets about such things as why you crave chocolate or gorge at buffets or store so much fat.

Michael Roizen and Mehmet Oz, America’s most trusted doctor team and authors of the bestselling YOU series, are now translating this cutting-edge information to help you shave inches off your waist. They’re going to do it by giving you the best weapon against fat: knowledge. By understanding how your body’s fat-storing and fat-burning systems work, you’re going to learn how to crack the code on true and lifelong waist management.

Roizen and Oz will invigorate you with equal parts information, motivation, and change-your-life action to show you how your brain, stomach, hormones, muscles, heart, genetics, and stress levels all interact biologically to determine if your body is the size of a baseball bat or of a baseball stadium. In YOU: On a Diet, Roizen and Oz will redefine what a healthy figure is, then take you through an under-theskin tour of the organs that influence your body’s size and its health. You’ll even be convinced that the key number to fixate on is not your weight, but your waist size, which best indicates the medical risks of storing too much fat.

Because the world has almost as many diet plans as it has e-mail spammers, you’d think that just about all of us would know everything there is to know about dieting, about fat, and about the reasons why our bellies have grown so large. YOU: On a Diet is much more than a diet plan or a series of instructions and guidelines or a faddish berries-only eating plan. It’s a complete manual for waist management. It will show you how to achieve and maintain an ideal and healthy body size by providing a lexicon according to which any weight-loss system can be explained. YOU: On a Diet will serve as the operating system that facilitates future evolution in our dieting software. After you learn about the biology of your body and the biology and psychology of fat, you’ll be given the YOU Diet and YOU Workout. Both are easy to learn, follow, and maintain. Following a two-week rebooting program will help you lose up to two inches from your waist right from the start.

With Roizen and Oz’s signature accessibility, wit, and humor, YOU: On a Diet — The Owner’s Manual for Waist Management will revolutionize the way you think about yourself and the food you consume, so that you’ll diet smart, not hard. Welcome to your body on a diet.

Customer Review: Info for Anyone who goes on a Diet
This book explains what seemed to be unexplainable. How to work with your own body’s physiology to beat those extra pounds!
Customer Review: I’ve never learned so much about digestion and hunger
You On A Diet is a great book. You’ll learn a ton about your body and how food works within your body. It seems like there isn’t much new here, other than this is a healthy carb, lower calorie eating plan. This diet is about general guidelines, not hard and fast rules. I would highly recommend this book in conjuction with the Beck Solution which is a congnative therapy approach to dieting, some of which is lightly covered in You On A Diet.

One large Rectangle 8 cups Three mini Squares 1.2 cups Two medium Deep Rectangle 10.8 cups Four medium Rectangles 4.5 cups Four small Rectangles 2 cups 14 Lids
Customer Review: The best snap-seal product
As other reviewers have noted, these containers are excellent - they make an airtight (and watertight) seal, and go in the dishwasher with no hassles (I dig the gasket out with a butterknife to wash it, but it’s not really necessary). There are lots of similar snap-containers out there. These win on two points - First, they nest to stack. Second, they’re made in the USA. And that second point is certainly worth a few extra cents per container.
Customer Review: Quick and Easy
My first ever endorsment. My set of Snapwear arrived a few days ago. I really appreciate how fast I can put the lid on. It takes forever to get the lid on other sealable containers. This literally just “snaps” on in seconds. In two days we have had two family members request Snapwear for Christmas. I also appreciate the way it stacks in the fridge. Being rectangle in shape it makes the most of limited space. Storage is a breeze, I have it stored in one drawer, containers nested in each other, tops to the side in order of size. This is especially convenient for persons with limited kitchen storage. I also find ordering through Amazon with Prime cost effective.

The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life

February 27th, 2008

The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life
Do you think that healthy food couldn’t possibly taste good? Does the idea of “eating healthy” conjure up images of roughage and steamed vegetables? Author Ellie Krieger, host of Food Network’s Healthy Appetite, will change all that. A registered dietitian, Ellie is also a lover and proponent of good, fresh food, simply but deliciously prepared. And she’s not about denial–no nonfat foods here, because when you take the fat out of natural foods, in go the chemicals. Don’t deny yourself butter–use a pat of it, but put it front and center on those mashed potatoes, so you can revel in it with all your senses. The Food You Crave is all you’ll need to change the way you eat and change the way you feel. It contains 200 recipes that cover every meal of the day and every craving you might have. Every recipe contains a complete nutritional breakdown, as well as tips on ingredients and techniques that will keep you eating smart and eating well.

Customer Review: Healthy, Delicious Recipes with REAL food
This is my current favorite cookbook! I love the Barefoot Contessa books, but Ina’s recipes are just not very healthy! This is a book that you can use every day.

I have loved Elie on the Food network since she started. This book is even better than I hoped it would be. I do not care for recipes that include a lot of fake ingredients — like fat free cheese. Elie’s recipes call for whole, nutritious foods. I have made lots of delicious recipes from this book: sweet and sour brisket, the best jambalaya ever, thai halibut, tuscan chicken and vegetables, fish tacos… Most of the recipes are fairly simple and help me get dinner on the table in about 30 minutes. The recipes that take longer mostly have long periods of unattended cooking. The nutrition information is very complete. As a Weight Watcher, I appreciate being able to easily calculate points. This is a must have for every home cook!

Customer Review: Finally!! Ellie Has a Cookbook!
I am just so excited this book is finally here!! I printed off every one of Ellie’s recipes I could get my hands on from the internet and have been cooking from that sad pile of print outs for about a year now. And now all our faves are in this beautiful book! My first, and still my favorite Ellie recipe, is her Pasta Salad with Spinach, Walnuts and Feta Cheese. That one alone is worth the price of the book! Her Caesar Salad with Grilled Shrimp is a very close second - that salad dressing is absolutely the best! The other night I made her Roast Salmon with Grapefruit Shallot Sauce and it was positively fantastic. Her Chile Rubbed Steak Tacos with Avocado Salsa are a fabulous solution for my Mexican food obsession!

I love her approach to food because I too prefer real food to lightened up diet foods with lots of chemicals. I’d rather have no mayonnaise than light mayo. It’s so refreshing to find recipes that don’t require a lot of packaged diet foods to make dishes that are lower in calories. I love to cook and eating healthfully used to mean lots of steaming and baking things bare…boring to make and to eat! But I get to cook and eat to my to my heart’s quite literal content with her recipes! I am really looking forward to cooking and eating my way through the rest of this book!

Customer Review: The Essential Exercise Video
A must-own exercise video, in this Leslie takes you on a 25 minute intense aerobics workout. Using only basic exercise moves (kicking, side-stepping, kick backs and knee lifts, mostly), Sansone gets you out of your seat with fast-paced music, inspirational words for dieters and overly enthusiastic comments on how well you’re doing. In all fairness, nothing has helped me more than this video. I’ve been using this (varied with a twenty minute audio cassette also by Leslie- great for traveling) three times a week for two years. I lost the ten pounds I wanted to and haven’t gained an ounce back since, WITH NO DIET CHANGES! The short duration of the tape is also encouraging, unlike a Richard Simmons (or most other similar workout tapes), you’re not dancing your buns off for upwards of an hour, it’s just 25 minutes! A must-own way for getting a healthy, non-obsessive workout without leaving your living room.
Customer Review: The best yet for couch potatos
I would highly recommend this tape to anyone that is just starting to exercise or has never exercised. It is so easy to do and follow. I have had knee surgery, and cannot do to much twisting or jumping, and this tape is just what I have been looking for. I will certainly purchase more of Leslie’s tapes in the future.

Customer Review: Taste like Cherry Pie
These are wonderful for travel and snacks. The taste is great. Most rawfood that is suppose to taste like something cooked doesn’t to me. This does. They have a new flavor key lime pie that is also great.
Customer Review: Larabar’s Cherry Pie
Cherry pie is my favorite Larabar! What better way to enjoy a completely natural, unprocessed treat. Plus they taste fabulous, too. Of the 6 or so varieties of Larabars I’ve tried, cherry pie is definitely the best. My tip: avoid the banana one.
